Aah, the RS6 - otherwise known as the Audi C5 RS6 quattro Typ 4B (at least between 2002-2004 that is). Is there a more sinister wolf in a sheep’s woolly jumper? OK the big 19″ rims and lowered suspension are a bit of a give-away but is there any real hint of 450 BHP fire-breathing bi-turbo V8 while it stands all docile in your front drive? Only when you fire it up. The V8 offers a nice deep-bass growl which makes a refreshing change over some of the more muted offerings from some other manufacturers we won’t mention. Has everybody forgotten the point of a V8? Never mind about the performance figures just listen to the noise! The US still makes V8’s with the great original soundtrack cos that’s what they do best. Can you imagine Steve McQueen’s V8 Mustang in Bullit sounding like some of today’s limp-wristed efforts? It would be like listening to Led Zep through cheap, nasty earphones. So at least the RS6 captures some of that old V8 character but probably without scaring the old folks in the neighbourhood. The performance is worth mentioning, however, because it is important in the RS6’s case. It is breathtaking. That’s it – there is no other word for it. The power feels relentless. It pulls like a high speed train that wants to break the world speed record. It never runs out of puff – you run out of road long before that happens. It feels safe though. The quattro system just hunkers down and drives like it’s on rails (more train analogies). It feels so totally competent the RS6 would refuse the most incompetent driver the chance to screw things up. Big powerful disc brakes rein in the beast without drama and bring peace back into the world. Then when you switch off the engine to park up there is an interesting whine from the twin turbos that sounds like a 747 unwinding after a long-haul flight. Yep, it’s a great car the RS6 and if you want to buy a cracking low-mileage example, the owner of a Daytona Grey (the best colour) 2004 model has asked us to find a buyer for his Avant version. TheCarSpy.Net are delighted to announce the availability of a few select examples of Aston Martin’s fantastic V8 Vantage with huge savings! Be quick because we expect these to go fast! All are UK cars and main dealer supplied…we are even able to supply a very few limited production N400 examples! The N400 was built to commemorate the company’s racing successes at the famous Nürburgring circuit. The car was also first unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The N400’s 4.3L V8 is tuned to produce 400 bhp, hence its coded name, and the car also features a sports pack which includes lightweight graphite-finished wheels, uprated springs and dampers and a new rear anti-roll bar. The N400 is available in three special paint colours; Storm Black, Lightning Silver and Karussell Orange (aptly named after the Karussell on the ‘ring’). Every N400 also comes with perforated leather trim, including a map of the Nürburgring stitched on the centre armrest, and a numbered plaque…in fact Aston Martin tested the car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit where it was able to complete a lap in under eight minutes. Fortunately the N400 is available in both Coupe and Roadster form, so at least those who like a bit of wind-in-hair action will be able to take up a fantastic opportunity too!

When AMG Decided that they werent quite pushing the standard mercedes lumps hard enough, they went one better and introduced a hardcore range of uber-mercs carrying the ‘Black Series’ legend…

So when the Black Series tag is introduced to the CLK what exactly does this comprise of? Well…let us enlighten you… For a start, this is the very same car used in the current season of F1…No, not Hamilton’s MP4-23 McLaren Racer, but this is the official Road going version of the safety car used to shepherd the guys round the track when things get a bit ‘lairy’…

Against the clock this CLK delivers, demolishing the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds, while charging on to an limited 186mph, this time aided by 500bhp that AMG have squeezed out of the 6.2-litre V8. Let’s face it, this is a sensational-looking beast with a performance to match! Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame very recently declared this as ‘one of the best cars in the world’.

The best news is we know of one that’s available right now…for £104,995 you can have a BRAND NEW unregistered, Obsidian Black version all for yourself. This is one of the ultimate Road-going Track cars which can easily be mentioned in the same breath as the 911 GT3’s of this world. If you are genuinely interested in purchasing this superb piece of automotive history, please call us on -01474 854490 or drop us a line to sales@TheCarSpy.Net

Two Black Beauties……

Any colour as long as it’s black!

Ahh…the E39 BMW M5. One of those cars that stirs the soul and easily contends for the title ‘Best Sports Saloon Ever Made’. Now we don’t often come across these last-of-the-old-shape M5’s so to have two on offer in the same colour at the same time was worthy of a family photo. Not both the same spec mind you but both with good histories and nice mileages in the sort of condition that inspires confidence regarding the previous owners’ attention to care and maintenance.
