Fancy a 645ci Sport? We’ve just taken in a stunning Titanium Silver example of this long-legged cruiser that has done only 22k miles and has just been serviced at BMW. The car has the particularly attractive Chateau Red leather sports interior which makes a pleasant change from some of the gloomy tints of greys and blacks out there. We’ve spoken at length before about the 6-series and the tremendous value for money these cars now offer. There is something almost Aston Martin-like about the car with its GT styling and laid-back torquey performance. There is plenty of grunt when you need it but you feel more inclined to savour the relaxed nature of the driving position while listening to the rather pleasant V8 soundtrack as background music. A trip to St Tropez would be a breeze in this car.  To find out more about this lovely 645 just click here.

It seems like 2003 was only yesterday which means the BMW E63/64 6-series has now been around for a grand total of six years.  It certainly created heated debate amongst those who either loved or hated Chris Bangle’s interpretation of the original 6-series from the 70’s. Bangle’s radical designs no longer seem to jar now though and if anything have improved like a good wine over the years. He used to say that his cars didn’t photograph well and that you should judge them in the flesh. Standing next to a 6-series coupe you can see his point although this particular example of his work seems  photogenic enough to us. Nice swoopy lines with a touch of muscle in the wide arches give this car tons of road presence and with big alloys it certainly looks the business. If you buy one with the 3 litre twin turbo diesel you get fantastic economy to go with the film-star looks. BMW quote a combined fuel consumption figure of 40.9 mpg while keeping the CO2 emissions down to a respectable 182 g/km! Couple that with 286bhp, 155 mph top speed and a 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds and you start to wonder why anybody would want the petrol-engined version. The other nice thing about 6-series ownership is that there are not too many to be found on this tiny, cold, damp little island of our’s. Tell people you own a 635 and they’ll be desperately trying to conjure up an image of what the car looks like. It’s a BMW though so it must be good but at least the pub car park won’t be full of them! If all that has whetted your appetite then take look at the 635d Sport we have been asked to sell on behalf of the owner. Finished in Space Grey with Black Dakota leather this 2007 example comes with all of the toys and still has the remainder of a BMW warranty. Click here for full details.

2004 BMW M3 SMG Convertible

It’s impossible to dislike the M3. In fact, we would go as far to say that it is probably the best car ever made. Well, if you don’t need a carry-all for the kids or a 4×4 to climb mountains (or Chelsea pavements) then this ‘wunderauto’ is an act that is hard to beat. From its intial inception as the E30 the M3 has raised the bar consistently when it comes to road-going high-performance cars that Joe Public can use without the need for special tuition on a track. The E30 is a rare old bird now and collectors will pay silly money for a nice original example (if they can find one!). The E36 came along next in 1992 with a nice sharp suit and performance figures that truly embarassed the likes of Ferrari and Porsche. The straight six-cylinder on steroids eventually pumped out 320 BHP and saw the introduction of the revolutionary SMG gearbox.  This car really did put the cat in the birdcage. It could even be said the ‘horsepower wars’ started when this car came along. Suddenly the M3 was the benchmark that had to be beaten and 300-plus BHP was soon to be de-rigeur for any sports car to be taken seriously. It wasn’t all about the horses though. The M3 was a great driver’s car – in other words, it handled superbly. At the turn of the new millennium the E46 M3 was born. More space, more comfort, more power and even easier to drive with the optional second-generation SMG gearbox.  The E46 is a real looker, too. Even though the E90 has now replaced this version we have a feeling that the E46 will have its own fan club of admirers for many years to come. It looks muscular yet restrained and there isn’t a bad angle on the car to be caught on camera. What great value these E46’s are these days too! We have just put a gorgeous Carbon Black example of an SMG convertible on our books for a customer and this one comes with all of the toys too - for less than £20k!! Whenever BMW launch a new version of the M3 the world holds its breath in anticipation of how on earth the company could improve on a car that is so good at what it does. And yet they have done it again. The E90-93 series moves the game on with its lightweight V8 420 hp power unit (that’s a awful lot more than the outgoing E46 version) and a choice of Coupe, Saloon, Estate and Cabriolet. A car indeed for all reasons! The cabriolet version is only just starting to ship to BM dealerships and we know of a brand new Jerez Black example that will be available for some lucky individual to purchase for this September. This is the DCT version that will come with a Bamboo leather interior plus SatNav, 19″ M-Spoke Alloys, Electronic Damper Control, Electric Mirrors, Mirror Anthracite Dash Trim, Through-Load System, Heated Front Seats, USB Bluetooth, Telematics, DAB Radio and Hi-Fi Loudspeaker System. Price £62995. Did you know that the DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) or DKG (Doppel-Kupplungs-Getriebe in its native tongue) gearbox is faster than the SMG version it replaces and reduces shift-changes to less than one tenth of a second. Trivia: When Usain Bolt broke the world 100m sprint record in 9.72 seconds each step touched the ground for less than one tenth of a second. So it’s very quick indeed. If you would like more details of this forthcoming M3 cabriolet please email sales@thecarspy.net or give us a call on 01474 854490. For those that can’t wait for the real thing download BMW’s M3 Challenge PC game here. It’s free, takes about 10 minutes to download and install but its well worth it if you fancy flinging a nice white shiny new M3 around the Ring with great abandon!

When BMW decided to enter the 4×4 market its intentions were not to emulate but to stimulate. With direct access to Land Rover technology (having just purchased the Rover Group) BMW set out to create the SAV – Sports Activity Vehicle. In other words a vehicle that certainly looked like a 4×4 but had a lot more of the driving characteristics associated with sports saloons, i.e. the BMW 5-series. Chris Bangle opened his crayon box and sketched out his interpretation of an SAV and voila the X5 was born in 1999. The original design still looks fresh and purposeful nearly ten years later and the X5 has rightly established itself as one of the most desired 4×4’s in the market today. We have a particularly nice black diesel Sport example in our portfolio that we are selling on behalf of the owner and this one comes with SatNav, TV and Phone Kit. It has also just had an Inspection 2 service so the car is ready to go. Click here for lots more details.

Spring is in the air and that normally means the rush to buy a cool convertible gets underway. This 2002 BMW 330Ci Automatic looks stunning in Schwartz Black with its ‘Individual’ cream nappa leather interior and walnut trim detailing. One owner from new with a full BMW service history (the big Inspection 2 service was done only 3000 miles ago) this car has covered a sensible 59k miles from new. A colour-coded hardtop is included which has such a nice tight fit you would think you were driving a coupe! Click here for more details.

2002 BMW 530i Sport ‘Individual’

Posted in BMW, General with tags , , , , , , on April 12, 2008 by The Car Spy

This totally gorgeous BMW 530i Sport certainly looks the part with its ‘Individual’ metallic Moro Red paintwork and Champagne Leather Interior. There’s something about the E39 5-series shape that defies the ageing process and even today still seems as fresh as when it was first launched in the mid-90’s. However, really nice low-mileage examples are getting tougher to find so this 2002 example with its fully-loaded specification and special paint finish is worth a gander at. SatNav, TV, CD, Xenon’s, Heated Seats, Parallel-spoke Alloys and a good service history are all part of the package with this one. Click here for more details.

Sublime Supercar Slayer…

I eat most things for breakfast!

A Very welcome addition to the fleet, the New BMW E60 M5.

This car has to be every Ferrari owners worst nightmare. You can imagine it now, the ‘Barbie and Ken’ couple in the Rosso Red F360 Spider, the lift of the sunglasses, that glance over the shoulder at the traffic lights…The recognition of those M5 side vents…That ‘oh no’ feeling kicks in…’I could be made to look seriously silly right now’. A competitor that really is a genuine wolf in sheeps clothing. A civilised understated executive hack, capable of over 205 Miles Per Hour and has recored figures as low as 4.1 seconds during its 0-60 mph sprints (Road & Track magazine ‘06). With figures like these, things could indeed look bleak for Mr Ken.
